Caring Congregations has started a new program.  In response to the growing need for sitters to work with individuals with Alzheimer's and other memory disorders, Caring Congregations is now providing sitter training classes.

Training sessions include the expertise of DETA, the American Red Cross, the Lifelong Learning Center, Amedysis Home Health, the University of Alabama, and Caring Days Adult Day Care. In a cooperative effort, we were able to train more than 40 sitters. We will now be able to provide a list of trained sitters to caregivers in need.

Caring Congregations, a faith-based organization, provides services in the West Alabama area to enhance quality of life for individuals with memory disorders, their caregivers, and other related populations.

Caring Congregations is operated by sponsoring faith groups that seek to meet human need through the love of God with active, supportive participation of our personal and community resources.

PROJECT LIFESAVER

Project Lifesaver is a cooperative program with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office. State-of-the-art technology is used to assist those who care for individuals with Alzheimer's and other dementias. The program provides the technology needed to quickly locate someone who has become disoriented and lost. The ability to find someone quickly prevents injury and provides peace of mind to caregivers. This program can also be used for locating children with autism, Down Syndrome, or other brain disorders.
People participating in the program wear a bracelet that contains a transmitter with a personal recorded frequency that can be tracked on foot, by car, or by helicopter. Each one-ounce battery-operated radio transmitter emits an automatic tracking signal every second, 24 hours a day.
